UPDATE: Massive Outpouring of Customer Support Saves Come As You Are
Support local businesses- we need as many places like Come As You Are as we can get!
Hey folks,
We’ve been over this before – Good Sex Shops Matter. That’s the driving force behind the Superhero Sex Shop Tour. One of the shops featured on the tour is Toronto’s Come As You Are– a cooperative (worker owned and operated) sex shop founded in 1997. In 2007, in honor of its 10th anniversary Come As You Are officially stated these as its core values:
- sex the way you want it
- customer service that helps
- no come ons
- be accessible
- be the anti-experts
- be worthy of trust
- create nerdy fun
- contribute co-operatively
- be generous
- working harder to make sex easier
- live our name
Shops like this need to exist. But Come As You Are is facing serious financial difficulties and may soon be forced to close.
According to co-owner Sarah Forbes-Roberts. “It is time for us to be honest about what is going on with the company,” she says. “We have all seen companies go out of business in Toronto that we’ve really treasured, so we wanted to give people a chance to come support us in these hard economic times.”
