Way back in July the night before the ANME convention started I was wandering through the hotel where the exhibitors were already set up for the convention the next day and in one of the hallways I saw a booth that caused me to stop in my tracks and say “Whoa! Who is that?!”
I was surprised to find it was OhMiBod because I had only ever thought of them as the music vibrator people and, as this twitter exchange demonstrates, I’m apparently not alone in that:
The next day when I went by and actually got to meet Brian Dunham of OhMiBod (who, in addition to being a rockstar was incredibly nice to me during the epic 3-day-long migraine that marked my ANME experience. Thanks, Brian!) and see the soon-to-be-released Lovelife collection. I pretty quickly fell… well… you know, in love. I couldn’t wait for these toys to come out. I was especially intrigued by the “Adventure” and so when Good Vibrations sent me one to test I was one happy gal.
What’s the deal with this toy?
The OhMiBod Lovelife Adventure is a triple stimulation vibrator- that’s right, triple: it stimulates the clitoris, the g-spot and the anal opening (that’s important to note if you are anal curious but penetration leery- the Adventure doesn’t penetrate the anus- it’s just nice to it externally.) The handle is ABS plastic and the body of the toy is silicone. It is rechargeable and splash-proof. Oh, also, it’s got 3 motors… 3. Just saying.
How does it work?
The Adventure is rechargeable via a port in the base of the handle (it comes with a usb charging cable, we’ll come back to that). 2.5 hours charging time should get you 2 hours of play time or 90 days of stand-by time according to the beautiful and thorough manual (Yes, there’s a manual! A real one! Wondering why that’s a big deal? Remember, I live in a world where reviewers sometimes have to pow-wow on twitter to figure out how to TURN TOYS ON!) From there the controls are pretty simple- there is one big heart-shaped (I hear some of you groaning, get over it, this toy is gorgeous) button with three parts “+”, “-” and “~” You hold the wavy line down for two seconds to turn the toy on or off and hit it to cycle through the 7 modes. The plus and minus signs control the speed/intensity of the vibrations.
How does it feel?
Lovely. Seriously, this silicone is silky, the ABS plastic is smooth (save for OhMiBod in raised letters on the back of the handle) and the handle has an awesome shape – it bulges out to fill your hand and then gets thinner towards the body of the toy- the Adventure is surprisingly pleasant to hold and maneuver
No, seriously, how does it feel?
Short answer: amazing. Long answer: there’s a story.
So, I’m a big believer in warm-up before inserting any toy so I decided to see if this toy could be its own warm up. The answer: Yes and in several different ways. Because there are 3 motors I ended up playing with various positions and actually found a whole mess of fun ways to use this toy solely for external clitoral stimulation. While that’s all well and good I know that none of you saw the picture of the Adventure and thought “Gee I hope she talks about using it the same way one would a $10 pocket rocket” so I’ll get to the more exciting stuff.
After a little warmup I, with the help of my trusty Please Cream (I love this stuff and will mention it any chance I get), inserted the Adventure, closed my eyes and then said “oh”
Okay, I will tell you I put some unfair expectations on the Adventure. Being the perineal sponge stimulation enthusiast that I am I took one look at this toy and thought “It has a motor in the back too- hello perineum!!!” and basically decided it would be the key all my orgasmic dreams coming true effortlessly. But, as I mentioned earlier that back bump actually stimulates the anal opening so I had a little wah-wah moment when I realized that.
I had to let go of my “this toy will just do everything for me while I just lie there with my eyes closed” vision and figure out what needed to happen to make it work for me(Hey, what does that sound like? Oh, yeah! Healthy functional sex!) I set about playing with the angles and speeds and I have to tell you- the result was freaking awesome!!
First off, it’s strong. We’ve established that I need super strong vibration and the Adventure delivers! Secondly, let’s not forget -it has THREE MOTORS! So, whenever I shifted it to get it more in contact with whichever part I wanted to focus more on that part really felt to because it HAD ITS OWN MOTOR! Like wise I really could just leave it in place and hang out and while that didn’t bring me to orgasm it created a pleasant up and down (wave? roller-coaster?) build of pleasure. When I did orgasm it was through a little manipulation of the handle -pressing i down towards the bed (I was on my back) so as to really put some pressure on the perineal sponge (yes, I’m obsessed). The awesome thing about this toy is that it gives you the opportunity to play with clit, g-spot, anal and perineal stimulation all at once. It’s pretty awesome
The OhMiBod Lovelife Adventure snuck in just under the wire to earn a spot on my Favorite Finds of 2013 list – coming next week!
Things I’m down with:
- Yay body safe! Silicone and ABS plastic- huzzah
- It’s powerful- hello, 3 motors!
- It’s gorgeous. It just is. The actual toy, the presentation, everything. OhMiBod nailed it here.
- Yay for rechargeable!
- It comes with a 1-year warranty. You’ve got to love a company that stands behind its products!
- The price point. Now, at $100, this is not an inexpensive toy but it is a well-made, high-quality rechargeable toy with 3 motors in it and a ton of thoughtful details put into the packaging (There’s a manual! There’s a silky protective pouch!) . I’ve seen several more expensive toys offering a whole lot less. Basically the last thing I found out about the Adventure was how much it cost and knowing everything I knew, I was shocked that it was only $100.
- I just mentioned the packaging – I would be remiss if I didn’t give that its own shout-out. The presentation on this toy is just lovely. Check it out.
Things that make me go grrr:
- I said I’d get back to this and here it is- I don’t love when the only option for charging a toy is usb. That said I plugged it into my iphone wall adapter and was good to go.
- I wish it was waterproof. Okay, mostly just because I want to think less when I’m cleaning my toys but still…
- It is a little loud- especially as you get to the higher intensities.
The Adventure has gone on to the great nightstand drawer in the sky but I remember it fondly.
