Buckle up folks because while this is kind of a review, it’s also a lot of me having FEELINGS about vibrator terminology. Namely what makes a “wand”. Anyway, today we are talking about the Sola Sync Wireless Remote 10-Function Rechargeable Silicone Wand (more on that word in a minute). The Sync is long-handled vibrator that comes (rather inexplicably) with a remote control and (in random bonus news) its own adapter to make its usb charger work with an outlet. I’ve already used it to charge my phone multiple times.
I will be honest with you, I wanted to review this toy for two reasons:
- The handle had me curious from an accessibility standpoint
- The head pissed me off, just on sight.
So, yeah, great long handle with a curve to it and a cool, not-round shape. That looks like it could be great for folks with grip issues and it sure feels good in my hand.
Then there’s that freaking head. All I could think was “FFS why would you make a ‘wand’ and put that tiny head on it? Why is the head long and thin and like someone hacked off the top third of every vibrator LELO makes and stuck it on a handle? What is with this quest to take the one kind of toy that works for me and generic it up until it’s just like the wide array of toys that doesn’t work for me?!” This wasn’t helped when a particularly dense professional contact who doesn’t get that her preferences don’t dictate what works for everyone shrieked at me about how “strong” it was (because, you know, “strong” trumps everything- size, shape, vibration quality, all of it!) at ANME.
I started getting grumpy whenever I would see pictures of it. So, I figured I should try it and (hopefully) get past that. So, when the folks at Peepshow Toys asked me if I wanted to review the Sola Sync I kind of jumped at it.
How did that go? Well…
The Good: Accessibility
I love the handle on this thing! Long and light with a lovely curve. Wide without being unwieldy, it’s just pleasant to hold. I think this handle is fabulous for anyone with grip issues as well as anyone with a reach issues that make placing a vibrator difficult. I wish more companies would think to make handles like this. This handle is, as far as I’m concerned a sex toy accessibility win.
The Bad: This is NOT a Wand

Do you like wand vibrators? This isn’t one of those. It is not a wand as I know them, at least. This is a regular vibrator on a long handle. Now, I know you have questions and that they are probably redonkulously specific but here’s the deal: I have not created a long extensive multi-page report on what I mean when I differentiate “wand” from “vibrator on a long handle”. I don’t have back-up documentation, vibrator diameter measurements, and explanations of rpms (I may have posted the tweet above and not been prepared for the degree to which people needed me to EXPLAIN it) but I can say this to you: If you are like me and need a WAND to get you where you are going, this won’t do it. Frankly, I think it’s the kind of statement that die-hard wand people will get and people who aren’t die-hard wand people don’t need to be so worried about.
That said, don’t ask me to explain EXACTLY why the Sync isn’t wand while other toys with smaller/thinner heads are. It’s true, the head is not wildly different in size/shape than the Mystic Wand head but it sure feels different ENOUGH. It’s not a *weak* toy by any means but the quality of vibration is different in a very-familiar-to-me “I’m not going to get there with this” way. (My partner called it “buzzy” and I was so proud of him. I wouldn’t actually commit to using the B word but t definitely feels less in-depth than the wand vibration I’m accustomed to) I think in the end it boils down to broad stimulation, which doesn’t necessarily require a huge head (case in point: PalmPower Wand, Swan Wand, Mystic Wand), but just isn’t happening here. For me this toy felt like using a regular, decent vibrator and much like when I use a regular, decent vibrator I felt like I could have hung out, orgasm-adjacent for HOURS. My orgasms are pretty wand-dependent.
Brass tacks: Is the Sola Sync a good toy?
So, it may surprise you to hear me says this but I think it actually is a good toy. The handle is fabulous and if you are someone who likes (for external stimulation) the WeVibe Touch, the LELO Mona, Elise, Gigi, the L’Amourose ones with handles, or really anything of that ilk – great! The Sync could be a fun, long-handled version of that for you. Especially if you are finding holding onto toys/reaching where you need to with your toys difficult or uncomfortable because the, once again, handle is pretty damn cool.
That said…If you want an actual “wand” wand with broad stimulation and all the other wand-y goodness? Go with one of these:
